Provided the team with information to reinforce why the change was happening and they were able to adjust with minimal complaint. Represented the department to the senior decision makers to highlight the resourcing shortfalls in the area and worked with the team to find more efficient practices to maintain outputs while budgets were finalised. Improving Workplace Efficiencies – Inherited the financial management of canteens and bars in a state of disarray. The taxation requirements were not done, there were issues with no reconciliation and everything was doubled up. Combined all businesses into one with a singular ABN and central account. This reduced overheads and time commitments by half and made it easier to balance the accounts as there was increased clarity in spending. This was done in addition to a fulltime role.

Achievements: Emergency Support – Due to a high degree of knowledge in the logistics area as well as a wide network of contacts, was able to support two emergency relief projects with very little notice. Provided total logistic management during the Earthquake in Indonesia in 2009 and again in PNG when all other options failed, was able to resupply urgent rations and spares locally for staff. The team was given less than 48 hours notice and no real outline of events so it was crucial to plan for every contingency and work as a team to coordinate resources before departure. Was able to lead the team through this stressful assignment without incident despite very long hours and no opportunity to prepare families in advance.

The new spares management plan was delivered on time and resulted in better on board spares availability, more targeted spares procurement and a reduction in freight costs for delivery of spares whilst away from the ship's home port. The major challenge was liaison with numerous stakeholders to provide a coordinated end state that all parties agreed to and could be achieved.Professional Development - Completed the Material Logistics Practitioner, which provided in-depth training and further exposure to the Integrated Logistic Support Process including through life support. Completed Diploma of Project Management, implemented and oversaw logistic projects.
