Came off the tools and started as a Mechanical Detail Drafter at BHP design office then worked for GKN designing scaffolding and formwork systems, Titan manufacturing designing mining equipment. Worked on a contract basis for various consultancies around Sydney and Wollongong for 10 years then offered a job as chief design engineer whilst working at Dowty Wollongong designing mining equipment especially for longwall, Moved to the country and became self-employed drawing up structural steel details for fabricators also designing materials and grain handling machinery and storage systems, an example of one item of equipment I designed was a fully automated pallet painting line for CHEP.
