I've spent over 50 years working in the pensions world for a range of providers and more recently for myself through my consultancy business. This has provided new opportunities and I've done some interesting work for a number of SIPP providers and other organisations - my "Mr SIPP" label has helped. More recently I've undertaken a number of "expert" reports mainly in relation to legal cases related to SIPP investments. Having helped design the income drawdown regime in the UK in 1994/5 the issues associated with retirement options -including increasing longevity - fascinate me. Chairing The Pensions Network helps enormously as I get to meet some very bright and knowledgeable people.I am non-executive chairman of the Glasgow based specialist advisory business Intelligent Pensions. I am passionate about understanding what drives customer engagement and and am chairman of a growing company Investor in Customers(IIC) (www.investorincustomers.com) which helps companies harness the power of insight to improve customer experience - both inside and outside the organisation. In my view every CEO or chair of a company large or small needs this type of insight if they want to attract and retain customers, increase employee engagement and boost profitability. For all regulated Financial Services companies the new consumer duty requirements which focus on four consumer outcomes require plans to be prepared with supporting evidence - an area where IIC can provide valuable support.
