Research Spec (Lead)Emory University Aug 1991 - Apr 2002I was the Senior Technician in a 5-member laboratory. We conducted experiments involving regulation of transcriptional elongation by RNA polymerase ll. This included handling rodents, vivisection, protein isolation, protein purification, and performing assays to produce 32P labeled RNA transcripts. The labeled RNA was visualized using gel electrophoresis for separation, then exposure to film for a prescribed time interval. We performed subcloning and other DNA manipulations to obtain proper DNA templates. These templates were grown in bacterial cultures, isolated, and purified. Other responsibilities included ordering and stocking supplies for all members of the lab, monitoring records and insuring lab compliance with radiation and chemical safety regulations. -
