I turned over the running of Polyguard to Shawn Eastham, my incredibly effective successor. Now I work less and am helping to start two businesses. One is non-pharmaceutical pain relief(one answer to the opioid problem) and the other is non-chemical termite control.

Polyguard manufactures products which protect steel, concrete, and other surfaces from corrosion, moisture, energy leaks, and invasion by insects and other pests. Our tagline is "Innovation Based...Employee Owned.....Expect More". Our constant stream of new products has enabled Polyguard to increase its sales for 24 consecutive years. And as of 12/31/14, Polyguard's Employee Stock Ownership Plan owns 100% of the company's stock. Polyguard has 26 consecutive years of growth in sales revenue.
For the first few years, when OC was flush with earnings from growth in insulation sales stemming from the early 70's energy crisis, they threw a lot of money into looking for new products and new businesses. I was lucky enough to be there in these flush times, and was in the middle of starting up some new products for highway rehabilitation. When the 80-81 recession hit, cutbacks began and I moved to the Trumbull Asphalt Division, which was an entrepreneurial part of OC where we continued to develop new highway products. At Trumbull, my card said "Market Manager" but the personnel records always listed me as an assoc. dir. of R&D - probably because I was over the pay scale of market managers.
