In his banking career, John led major product business lines covering customer segments from consumer/retail through to global institutional businesses. John has a deep understanding of highly regulated environments.In a 36-year career in commercial banking John has been at the centre of designing and executing major transformation and innovation programs in the areas of payments, transaction banking, internet banking platforms, core systems replacement and digital businesses. From 2016-2020 John was Deputy Secretary then Deputy Chief Executive, Chief Transformation Officer leading the ambitious transformation agenda of the Australian Government agency Services Australia. In September 2020 John was appointed CEO of the payments fintech company Azupay, a provider of real-time, account-to-account payment solutions to business and government. John was a member of the small industry group that developed the strategy and design leading to the launch of Australia's real-time payment platform in 2018. John is regarded as one of the leading payment and transaction banking executives in Australia. John was an independent, non-executive, director of Australian Payments Plus from February 2022 to February 2023.
