Early in his career, John Myefski worked for Murphy/Jahn as the Project Architect on large scale projects such as the Munich Airport Center, Kempinski Hotel and the Sony Center, all located in Germany. After leaving Murphy/Jahn in 1994, John began his own architectural practice. The firm rapidly grew from its inception by primarily focusing on design, service and attention to detail. In 2009, Myefski Architects Inc. moved to Evanston’s historic landmark Chandler’s Building in the heart of downtown. Myefski Architects has 17 years of experience that includes Master Planning, Schematic Design through Construction Observation phases for projects ranging from large student housing to transformative community based projects. We are committed to sustainable design and building practices to achieve a more energy efficient and environmentally conscientious project. John has attended the University of Michigan for his Bachelors and Masters degree. He was the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship to study at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts/School or Architecture in Copenhagen, Denmark. He also received the Booth Traveling Fellowship for Independent study of community based architecture in Sweden, Finland, and Norway. Most recently, he attended the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management’s Master of Product Design and Development Certificate Executive Education Program. John Myefski was recently elected School Board President, and has served on the New Trier Township District 203 Board of Education since 2009. John’s prior board experience includes eight years on Glencoe Public School District 35 Board of Education, two of which he served as President. John has also served on the University of Michigan Board of Governors for the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, two of which he served as Chairman.
