While many applications will benefit from APM, Quantum Technology presents an excellent near term application because it needs atomic precision. I know this because I spent 10 years of my life fabricating resonant tunneling diodes and transistors at Texas Instruments. We made spectacular quantum devices, but could never control their performance well enough to make complex circuits. This was because we lacked (25 years ago) the manufacturing precision. Even today, the atomic precision manufacturing tools required to make solid state integrated quantum devices does not exist. -
