PROJECTSVerizon Wireless - Richmond, Virginia Designed building additions using masonry, structural steel, bar joists and other commonly used building materials. Designed foundations and platforms for emergency diesel generators.Waste Transfer Stations - Forth Worth, Texas and Arlington, Texas At Fort Worth designed heavy reinforced concrete beams and slabs for truck tunnels and a 300’ x 150’ structural steel building. Designed concrete caissons, 18” to 36” in diameter in expansive soils to the Denton Shale layer. At Arlington an addition to an existing building presented unique challenges in that there was little room on the site to expand. Also the floor slab had to designed to withstand r of bulldozer tracks. High strength concrete with dense aggregate and metal fibers were utilized. Sentara Hospital - Norfolk, Virginia Designed a second story platform and room a top of an existing generator room for the purpose of housing new diesel generators. Existing Frankie Pile foundations were researched to determine if there was excess capacity. Vibration analysis was performed.VDOT Maintenance Facility - Richmond, Virginia Designed a maintenance and repair facility for heavy VDOT trucks utilizing pre-engineered metal building, structural masonry and concrete slabs and foundations.

PROJECTSKaiser Aluminum Chemical Corp - Gramercy, Louisiana Designed structural steel pipe bridge and 1 million pound flash tank support. Designed 25-ton wood piles with concrete pile caps.Owens Corning - Richmond, Virginia Designed structural steel support and concrete foundations for a 250 ton aluminum pellet silo. Seismic analysis was performed due to the heavy load high atop the silo.

PROJECTSScience Museum of Virginia - Richmond, VA Renovation and addition to this 1917 building. The building addition was supported by a composite concrete floor on structural a steel framing. Used mini-piles to reinforce existing pile foundations. A special “connecting” pile cap had to be designed to engage the new piles and the old pile cap.Ni River Middle School, Berkley Elementary School - Spotsylvania, Virginia Performed design and construction administration functions on various schools. The Ni River School was perhaps the most challenging in that it was a very large school with intricate architectural features and roof slopes. Soils were also expansive and needed to be kept moist until slabs with vapor barriers could be poured.

Held various diverse engineering positions while at Virginia Power. I started in Transmission Engineering, went to Quality control and then to Power Station Engineering. I designed transmission structures to support electrical conductors, and foundations for transmission and substation structures. Was the design engineer for the low head hydroelectric facility known as North Anna Hydro Electric facility. Worked for a 3 months at Virginia Powers Bath County Pumped Storage facility. There I gained experience in curtain and consolidation grouting at the upper 400’ high dam. I moved to North Anna Nuclear Power Station where I worked in the Design Engineering Office. Here I prepared design modification packages for the power station.
