My job involves provision of research and programmatic assistance towards implementation of Natural Sciences Sector programme activities. Specifically, I am tasked with:• Providing programmatic and research assistance, including but not limited to, desk reviews, conceptualization of ideas in support of Science programme implementation. •Maintaining contact and communication with various stakeholders and partners working with UNESCO in the field of Natural Sciences, including government officials, researchers, youth organizations and civil society, etc.•Coordinating and maintaining SC regular budget and extra-budgetary resources in order to assist in the preparation of regular and ad hoc budgetary/financial updates, reports, statistics and/or projections for use and scrutiny by Programme Specialists in science sector,.

My key achievements include:• Established a donor network and secured six conservation grants,• Coordinated a Community-Based Ecological Mangrove Restoration and Monitoring Programme and restored 7 Ha of degraded mangrove forests• Oversaw adoption of two software platforms (Abalobi and SaleForce) to facilitate capture and access of data. • Developed base maps for a series of coastal habitat i.e. mangroves, intertidal flats and seagrass meadows within Watamu Marine Protected Area
