SNV is a facilitator of commercially viable markets for renewable energy products and services for households and SMEs. SNV works in undeserved areas facilitating energy access for lighting and cooking needs for households, SMEs and institutions through Biogas, Clean cookstoves & Fuels and Solar.My key Responsibilities in this Project Include:1.Overall Coordination and quality implementation of Project activities.2. Planning, implementation, and monitoring of activity and operational plans and budgets (monthly, quarterly and annually)3.Promoting commercial approach for clean energy access services through various tailoredinterventions for cooking and lighting.4. Oversee energy enterprise support to identified solar and cookstove entrepreneurs5.Identifying and nurturing the opportunities for collaboration and partnership with other relevant organisations operating in Kakuma and the county Government of Turkana6.Lead in identification and support sustainable innovative financing models that work in the project areas. Program Advisor Endev Kenya Solar Pico InterventionSnv Apr 2019 - Sep 2019NairobiI am coordinating and implementing a solar PICO PV project targeting off grid communities in Machakos, Makueni, Kitui, Kajiado, Laikipia, Tharaka Nithi, Embu & Isiolo Counties. The objective of this project is to facilitate access to and use of modern lighting for households by establishing and strengthening sustainable and commercially viable supply and distribution models for quality Pico PV products and services at the local level. More specifically, the project is supporting distribution and uptake of Lighting Global certified solar products.The main interventions include consumer awareness creation, capacity development for rural entrepreneurs, creating business linkages between value chain actors at different levels and facilitating access to credit for both entrepreneurs and end users. I am working with actors along the value chain including Lighting Global Associates, Rural Distributors, Last Mile Entrepreneurs and Financial Institutions, and on a need basis with other development partners and sector level associations and initiatives. Summary of specific responsibilities;1.Implementing solar project activities in the above mentioned counties, including planning with the LMEs, implementation and activity reports, in consultation and close collaboration with the project advisor.2.Enhance existing business linkages between value chain actors at different levels, while also developing new linkages to address market barriers.3.Monthly and need based progress monitoring including LME sales data collection and analysis.4.Contribute to the overall project progress reporting periodically or on a need basis.5.Collaborate with relevant development partners and initiatives.6.On a need basis participate in sector level forums and collaborate with or support sector level associations. 7.Contribute towards knowledge development based on project’s experiences and market trends. -
