About John O'Grady

My passion is leaving the world a better place than I found it. I do this by helping high potential and high performing athletic coaches, founders, corporate executives and their teams do GREAT THINGS by bringing out the very best in their leaders, players, teams and corporations. I share leadership lessons and experience from the battlefield, sports field, and business world by working at the INTERSECTION of LEADERSHIP, TEAMS, and CULTURE - this is where the magic happens. Every organization is a network of teams within teams. Optimal performance of people, teams and leaders of teams is critical for organizational success in a sustainable manner -- I can help by sharing practical lessons from over 30 years of military, sports, and business experience. A former Division I athlete, West Point graduate, retired Army Colonel, and distinguished combat leader, I understand the leaders role in bringing the intersection of leadership, teams and culture and how it inspires people and teams to become the best version of themselves in the most demanding, complex, austere, and challenging environments. John completed a decorated military career, where he led organizations from 30 – 3.5K people, to include in active war zones. John’s command was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation (the highest award given to units) for, “extraordinary heroism in the face of an armed enemy.” -- made possible by the values-based culture by which John led and inspired his team. John has repeatedly served as a senior advisor to executive level military leaders where he was relied upon to provide confidential, expert, advice on topics as diverse as culture, strategic direction, and managing fiscal and operational portfolios in excess of 14B dollars. As an advisor, coach, speaker, and mentor, John’s timeless leadership message inspires and challenges coaches, teams, and organizations to win sustainably by becoming the best versions of themselves.Client Portfolio: IBM, Georgetown University Women's Lacrosse, NY Jets Defensive Staff and team, Chesapeake Bayhawks (2019 MLL Champions), Georgetown Prep (MD) Boy's Lacrosse, LA 2028 Olympic Executive, Soldiers to Sidelines (Non-profit), West Point Army Men's and Women's Lacrosse, Wagner College Football, Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA), National Interscholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association (NILCA), Carey Lacrosse, and the Center for a New American Security (CNAS, DC Think Tank).
