From 1974-1977, I attended the University of Surrey in Guildford where I studied maths and statistics. I returned home to Ipswich and an opportunity came up to start working in accountancy. The firm put me through my training and I subsequently joined Beatons in 1986. In 1990, I became a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA).Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two sons. I also umpire hockey and help out with the administration of the Suffolk Indoor League. I used to play hockey and do cycle speedway, but a serious cycle speedway injury forced me to retire from participating in both sports.
