I serve on the Leadership Team and as the Director of Structural Engineering for PES Structural Engineers. I strive to empower our Team of Structural Engineers to utilize their engineering skill set to efficiently solve our clients’ unique project design challenges. I ensure that our Team has the necessary tools to be successful, including training, mentoring, design standards, etc.In addition to my Leadership duties, I serve as Project Manager and/or Structural Engineer of Record for the structural design of projects in the federal, municipal, senior living, hospitality, industrial and manufacturing sectors. My expertise covers a wide range of project types and materials, including post-tensioned concrete, structural steel and composite steel, high-rise construction, concrete masonry, wood framing, condition assessments, renovations, and historic preservation. A significant amount of my experience includes designing for high hazards, including hurricanes, tornado resiliency, tornado shelters, earthquakes, and costal floods. I enjoy collaborating with Clients and Developers to ensure they understand the structural Code requirements for the selected site, to arrive at a program that meets their needs, whether they are seeking an economical design meeting the minimum Code requirements, or a beyond-code design including resiliency considerations.I actively participate in the development of Building Codes and Standards, with a particular interest in Wind Engineering. As a Senior Structural Engineer in Haskell's Infrastructure and Transportation (I&T) Facilities group, I lead the structural design on a wide variety of building structure projects throughout the United States. As the Director of Engineering, I am challenged on a daily basis to use my creativity and strong technical background to solve problems on all project types. Additionally, I often perform the duties of a traditional Project Manger to oversee the design of structures and the production of construction documents. As a Design Engineer, I performed various design, detailing and drafting tasks as required under the direction of a Senior Project Manager. Some responsibilities include:-Perform gravity and lateral (seismic and wind) analysis of multi-story concrete parking structures-Performed the design and detailing of primary structural framing members (concrete beams, columns, retaining walls and slabs) for new parking deck structures-Performed the function of specialty engineer for a major precast supplier. Designed precast, prestressed columns, double tees and wall panels. Detailed these elements in shop drawings and shop tickets using AutoCad-Researched codes, design guides and reports to provide feedback to specialty engineers with regards to the design responsibilities delegated to them-Evaluated the capacity of existing structures for the addition of new parking and helideck facilities
