Throughout my career I have found passion in advocacy, leadership, and education. Clients that are associated with vulnerable populations that result in barriers in the access to healthcare inspire me to pursue higher education in research. With the proper tools, we can eliminate some of the barriers associated with the social determinants health within Nova Scotia.I am a cis-gender homosexual that works in healthcare as a registered nurse. Most of my background involves the areas of geriatric nursing, medical-surgical nursing, perinatal care, and recently mental health and care for persons with substance use disorders. Growing up in rural NS, I have see first hand how certain elements of one’s life can greatly impact the access and quality of care. I am passionate about perinatal health, mental health, and the health equity for all diverse populations within the community.
