John Gallagher is a Managing Director at Cerberus Capital Management, focused on investments related to national security and technology. He has extensive experience working across the U.S. interagency, intelligence community, and industry and has advised multiple senior military and civilian leaders. Gallagher also serves on the Board of Directors of a Quebec-based rare earths & specialty chemicals company and as Executive Director of the Metaxas Media Advisory Board. From 2018-2021, he was the Special Assistant to the Chairman of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board (PIAB) which advises the White House and U.S. departments and agencies on top national security risks. In 2016, he served on the Trump Presidential Transition in support of defense, intelligence, veterans affairs, and NASA. Gallagher retired in 2015 after 27 years in the U.S. Army and was the CEO of a non-governmental organization until 2016, working in the Middle East and Asia on political reform, religious freedom, and counterterrorism. Prior, he was an advisor to multiple 4-star military commanders including the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs at the Pentagon, the Commander of U.S. Central Command, and the Commander of all Coalition forces in Afghanistan. From 2007-2009, Gallagher was a White House Fellow and a Director at the National Security Council. At West Point, he taught American Politics and was the Director of the Academy’s Rhodes Scholarship program. He is a former Young Leader with the French-American Foundation and American-Swiss Foundation, and a 2016 Presidential Leadership Scholar. A former airborne infantry officer and Army strategist, Gallagher is a graduate of West Point and holds two master's degrees with distinction from The University of Chicago, in public policy and political science. Military awards and qualifications include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (Service-Afghanistan), Presidential Service Badge, Ranger Tab, and Master Parachutist Badge.
