• Led the economic and environment section, setting priorities and managing the team to achieve our objectives.
• Advised senior-level policymakers on a range of issues including geo-political developments in the Arctic, the status of Iceland’s economy and the bilateral trade relationship.
• Directed the Embassy’s commercial advocacy including organizing trade delegations, and assisting U.S. firms in the Icelandic market leading to tangible successes for U.S. businesses.
• Launched a partnership between the U.S. National Park Service and Icelandic national parks that has become a signature collaboration between the governments.

• Managed U.S. effort in Europe to ensure that U.S. information and communication technology (ICT) companies were treated equitably in the European market.
• Advised senior-level officials during the U.S.-EU Privacy Shield negotiation, helping the team successfully conclude and implement an agreement that allows U.S. firms to transfer data from Europe.
• Established the U.S.-EU Digital Economy Dialogue, successfully creating a platform for high-level U.S. officials to advocate for fair policies for U.S. tech firms in Europe.
• Collaborated with the United States Trade Representative (USTR) during the U.S-EU Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership’s (TTIP) digital economy negotiations, discussing strategies and ensuring State and USTR.

U.S. Embassy Managua, Nicaragua

• Organized the largest environmental event in Nicaraguan history, garnering the support of local organizations to attract over 3,000 participants to raise awareness for environmental causes.
• Created an innovative public-private partnership with a U.S. gold mining company with major operations in Nicaragua to stem the use of mercury by artisanal gold miners, effectively amplifying our limited resources to.
• Led reporting on numerous issues including the proposed Chinese-led Nicaraguan Canal, providing analysis on its likelihood and potential geopolitical consequences.

U.S. Embassy San Jose, Costa Rica

• Directed U.S. involvement in a labor dispute between a port worker’s union and the Costa Rican Government that could have led to U.S. trade sanctions.
• Led reporting on a high stakes border dispute between Nicaragua and Costa Rica, providing advice and timely information to policymakers in Washington, D.C.

• Wrote several marketing case studies for a leading European marketing textbook.
• Conducted market research for a pharmaceutical firm, interviewing hundreds of students about medicine packaging, then compiling and analyzing the results.
• Assisted in the teaching of undergraduate marketing classes, preparing study materials, grading papers and assisting students.
