About John P. Young, P.E.

Former Senior Design Engineer for Maryland's Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) engineering program. I have over 32 years' experience in the design of intelligent engineering systems, and the development and advertisement of ITS projects for public bid. My experience includes producing the Plans, Performance and Technical Specifications, and Engineer's Estimates for small and large scale ITS construction contracts, or experimental advanced traffic control systems, and supervising their advertisement. I can also provide technical assistance during their construction, inspection, and integration. I can develop Standards, Specifications, Design details, training manuals, and other tools necessary for the design and execution of ITS projects. In addition, I have conducted seminars in ITS design, and produced ITS design manuals. In the late 80's, I designed, inspected, and tested the State of Maryland's first and only buried "leaky cable" AM radio station.At present I'm working part-time/on-call as a Senior ITS Engineer for Sabra-Associates Inc (SAI) in Columbia, MD, a division of Mead & Hunt. When I'm not working on ITS projects I write technical papers, product reviews, manuals, and compendiums relating to the design and repair of electronic devices such as amateur radios and associated test equipment and publish them on my website, w3afc.com.
