I am a partner at TwinFocus Capital and serve as the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and General Counsel. In this role, I maintain a close working relationship with TwinFocus clients to help them design and expedite their investment strategies. I also lead the firm’s research efforts to develop new and creative asset allocation policies, oversee due diligence for manager search and selection, as well as write thought leadership commentary on global macroeconomic topics. Additionally, I have a keen interest on alternative investment fund formation and structuring, as well as analyzing complex tax aspects of alternative investments, pioneering studies on how to make hedge fund investing more tax efficient from an income and wealth transfer tax perspective. I am especially active on behalf of offshore clients, developing strategies to overcome cross-border impediments, tax, legal, and regulatory challenges, as well as cultural sensitivities to maximize inter-generational wealth transfer and succession.On the client advisory side, I lead the firm’s efforts in formulating a multi-disciplinary approach to integrating tax planning with investment management. I spearheaded the firm’s industry-leading total balance sheet approach and Hub & Spoke Model for high net worth families with their income, gift and multi-generational planning initiatives. I have also represented and assisted numerous executives and small enterprises in addressing tax and other regulatory challenges. I have also worked very closely with the firm’s IT team in developing and adapting technology to facilitate and streamline complex estate, gift and tax planning initiatives. Prior to TwinFocus, I was a financial consultant with A.G. Edwards where I advised individuals, families, companies and non-profits on investments, asset allocation, pensions and risk management. I also was a practicing tax attorney in the greater Boston area, specializing in corporate law, taxes and estate planning.
