Sarasota, Florida Area

Provided legal support to the services division of Direct Energy headquartered in Sarasota, Florida, including its three franchise brands. This included general legal counsel to the President of the services division, and direct involvement in franchise compliance including franchise disclosure documents and intellectual property maintenance and enforcement. Oversaw litigation and commercial contracts for the services division, and remotely managed three lawyers providing support for the corporate functions of Direct Energy's headquarters in Houston Texas.

Orlando, Florida Area

Oversaw six Central Florida offices for state agency. Responsible for statewide initiatives including recruitment and retention, leadership and management training, and policy development in inmate recidivism and reentry. Executive sponsor of Child Predator CyberCrime Unit, a statewide law enforcement agency focused on investigation and prosecution of on-line child exploitation crimes.

Chief Legal Officer for NYSE-traded Fortune 500 distributor of construction materials. Directed all legal matters, including corporate governance and board support. Led all aspects of multiple M&A transactions, including contract negotiations and due diligence, adding over $1 billion in revenues. Directly responsible for corporate governance changes required for implementation of Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Maintained legal department budget during period in which company doubled its market capitalization. Personally led contract negotiations in sale of Hughes Supply, Inc. to The Home Depot.
