• Development of original farmland site into a fully established vineyard including the planning of irrigation and vine planting • Overall management of 500 acre vineyard including soil management, irrigation, and disease and weed control• Responsible for generating all sales of wine produced under the vineyards own wine label including export sales• Coordination and running of board meetings - collecting, analysing and presenting statistical data• Direct and oversee general growing activities such as harvesting and pruning• Monitor grape maturity to ensure their quality and calculate the correct time for harvest• Coordination and contract negotiations of all staffing, including the utilisation of contract labour hire for peak seasons (ie harvest and pruning), adjusting as needed for any weather induced variations to the “vineyard season” • Responsibility for the training and induction of all staff - temporary and permanent • Carrying out environmental management programmes including food safety and occupational health and safety procedures• Researching and sourcing all products and negotiating best price• Coordination of the purchase and maintenance of all machinery.• Responsible for all grape sales including liaising with grape buyers and winemakers to negotiate sale price and arranging transport of grapes• Keep records of techniques used and harvest outcomes for each season in order to facilitate future planning
