I look after governance, data and delivery controls for WPB Technology across 50 countries. I initially moved into this exciting role with the responsibilty of looking after the Data Controls and Governance across HSBC - a responsible and challenging position of itself and an evolution from my previous Data Architecture role.

However the role has evolved and widened and I'm now covering SDLC and deployment controls and governance as well as the data controls. I therefore have exceptional breadth of responsiblity across the whole IT process from initial inception of ideas to those ideas becoming reality and covering all the controls at every stage.

>Creation of Data Management Strategy and implementation roadmap.

>Design and documentation of data governance framework.

Zurich UK Programme Manager

I led a team of 70, delivering the largest subsection within the programme to replace Zurich’s Core Systems and Information Fabric. I managed multiple system integrations, five data migrations, creation of reporting and datamarts and integration of core systems replacement.

>Day to day management of project team including modellers, business analysts, ETL designers and developers, reporting designers and developers, data analysts and data mappers.
>Resolution of technical issues, either personally or in collaboration with more technical staff.
>Mobilisation of all elements of the project (resources, contracts, environments, access, productivity applications, and servers).
>Writing and agreement of contract documentation and pricing negotiations.
>Resolution of daily risks and issues, scheduling of work, and escalation as required.

16 years in total, 2 years mainstram audit and accountancy, 14 years in Information Risk Management (IRM), the latter advising clients how to identify, measure and control the risk within their organisations that arises due to poor information.

Far too many individual projects to list in the limited space here, however over the 16 years I worked across hundreds of clients and covered most industries. I would note however around 85% of my work was in financial sector.

Clients included many global organisations but also many national and local organisations, noting that the ideal solution for any problem is not a "one size fits all" but that every solution needs to be uniquely tailored to the specific needs, environment and culture of the client.
