My life has been devoted to family, learning and work.It's a great life.As a boy in elementary school I was encouraged by my teachers to go to a superior high school, Brooklyn Tech. While studying there, I decided to compete for a place in Cooper Union. I was accepted. Unfortunately, my father passed away and I had to get a job to support my family. I lost no time in applying to Cooper Union's night school. I was accepted and received a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Eng.despite having to serve two years in the US Army during the Korean War and hold down a full time job with Chemico. Thus began my fascination with school and work earning me a law degree and admission to the New York Bar and subsequently a Masters in Energy Mgmt while being a full time employee of Con Edison. While attending NYU School of Law, I met my wife, Rosalie and married her after a short courtship, less than a year. (We celebrated our 50th Anniversary this June 2015.) Within 6 years.we had 2 boys, John, Jr. and Russ Greco, a single family residence in Jamaica Estates, Queens, NY, law aand engineering degrees, and a new job with Con Edison.I became interested in real estate, first, from the home improvement side and then from the investment side. When I purchased my home in Queens I had little if any home improvement skills. After reading and applying the building codes, I became quite proficient. I was also purchasing properties for investment. (At one point I owned 5 residential properties. Now I own 2 homes and 2 office buildings.) My legal and engineering background were a good fit for this spare time work as well as my job at Con Edison.After I retired from Con Edison in September1999 I sold my investment properties and purchased 2 office buildings in June2005 When Wilma struck in October2005 AEP suffered over $1,000,000 in damages.What could have been a financial disaster was turned into a winner largely due to the efforts of Russ.and our RE Development skills.
