My previous update started:"We are modernising our monolith and getting things ready for the next generation of IT within Saint Gobain Building Distribution. The next 4 years are going to be interesting times."Well five years on from this and SGBD has been acquired by Stark Group, and I have completed 20 years employment with the same company. Our Mulesoft integrations go from strength to strength and our migration to CloudHub from on-premise servers is now complete as part of the separation of Stark Group from Saint Gobain.Our live environment now has 200 API's up and running handling EDI file movements, exposing ERP and CRM data, MDM synchronisation, big data feeds to BI and finance systems. Each with it's unique challenge and stakeholders to manage.As a senior software engineer my role is now mainly focused on designing the integration patterns, providing the high and low level design documentation for our phenomenal offshore team at Cognizant. The 18 strong team have worked wonders for us and we've had a stable and incredibly productive team for the last 4 years.My work also encompasses the transition of "dev-done" to "production-ready" for our Service Delivery team to manage deployments. This involves preparation and verifying deployment documents, prod properties and system connectivity checks. I'm also on hand for early life support, and knowledge transfer to support.
