The Public Affairs and Policy team is responsible for Carers UK’s policy, media, campaigns, research, public affairs and media functions working with colleagues in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.We are a small team carrying out the full range of public affairs activity from raising awareness of caring through public campaigns and in the media to influencing Parliament, Government and wider stakeholders through new research, policy expertise and campaigning work.

As Head of Programmes and Partnerships, I was responsible for building relationships with key ASP partners, as well as developing education programmes and pathways to help more people start a career in the aviation industry. I also co-ordinated partnership engagement activity across the UK as well as being responsible for ASP>SouthEast/London.

Resulted in a high number of quality applications from private sector.• Developed innovative social media campaigns across a variety of different channels that cumulatively led to a 30% increase in Twitter followers, and online web content that resulted in higher click-through rates to key reports. • Successfully managed a communications agency (George and Dragon) to deliver a large communications campaign to launch a business-led initiative focussed on increasing levels of productivity in UK businesses. This included message development, creating a website and app, as well as day-to-day management of the contract. • Facilitated workshops, roundtable meetings, and ‘innovation labs’ with internal and external colleagues, including important stakeholders from business and government. Resulted in a bank of key contacts that could be called on for communications activities (media spokespeople, case studies and quotes). • Line managed several of graduate interns and trainees, with feedback including, “You have demonstrated excellent management behaviours and gone the extra mile”. • Achieved a superior performance rating; only received by 10% of employees.
