About Jack Peterson

I delight in building products that make a positive impact on people’s lives. Whether that’s front-end, back-end, consumer, or business products, I am a software engineer and technically focused leader with 8 years of experience pursuing Software Engineering roles. I earned a Master of Science in Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin in December 2023. I enjoy working with Machine Learning and Generative AI; specifically in my Masters-level coursework in Natural Language Processing and Deep Learning. I also have experience in front-end and back-end tooling and systems, including cloud infrastructure and DevOps. I also enjoy the challenge of creating performant, reliable, parallel systems using low-level languages like C and C++, Java, Python, JavaScript, iOS, and Web Development. Software Development experience focused on application security, algorithms, data structures, and unit testing. Version control/Git/Github experience on most projects.I have the skills and mindset to quickly learn and navigate complex systems, meet and exceed client requirements, and build robust software in fast-paced/agile team environments.During my time in the United States Navy, I ranked #1 on three annual evaluations and have been ranked in the top 10% of officers for five years consecutively; I exceeded contract requirements for Officer Recruiting by 30% and was selected as the Lead Instructor to oversee 50+ training jackets for 100% pass rate on internal and external inspections of training/qualification program for VQ-4 squadron. I have led a team of 50+ including two divisions and one department.I hold a Secret clearance with active investigation and eligibility for Top Secret and SCI.I have various professional software development experience and project work through both Master's and Bachelor's of Computer Science degree programs.NOTE: Opinions are my own and do not represent those of the Navy, the DOD, or the US Government as a whole.
