John Pfahl is the technical lead for the Business Development team in BHP’s Americas Region, since 2021. He is responsible for leading project evaluation work, including project screening, due diligence and asset prioritization work.John joined BHP from SRK Consulting (North America) where he was a Practice Leader (Corporate Advisory) and a member of the board of directors. Prior to his time at SRK, John was a Senior Associate at Resource Capital Funds. He also lectures at Colorado School of Mines as an adjunct in the Mineral Economics department. John has worked in the mining industry for more than 20 years and has expertise in investment / M&A, project development, strategic evaluations and planning, business improvement, risk analysis, capital markets / project finance, due diligence and project valuation. John’s expertise covers projects ranging from exploration through production and across a broad spectrum of commodities. His education includes a Master of Engineering, Engineer of Mines, from the Colorado School of Mines and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Civil), also from the Colorado School of Mines.
