Arrow International acted as PMO for one of New Zealand’s largest insurance companies following the Christchurch earthquakes, managing house rebuilds and repairs for approximately 4000 customers. Many of these customers are unfamiliar with the building process and require a high level of communication and reassurance. As well as having many of the facets of traditional project management, this role has a large people management focus. Key Achievements - Managing a team of 7 Project Managers in the architectural stream with up to 100 concurrent projects totalling approx $250m - Accustomed to working with constant change as dictated by the Christchurch post-earthquake insurance environment. - Managing staffing requirements and skill distribution during the 'wind-down phase of the project - Strong Health and Safety focus. Responsible for evaluating and approving contractors Site Specific Safety Plans, ensuring the safety of site personnel and compliance with H&S requirements through regular site audits. - Consistently reaching throughput targets throughout project phases.  - Developed quality relationships with Contractors, Architects and other consultants. Assessment of consultant performance and negotiation of contracts.  - Worked closely with emotional customers, while all the time responding in a professional manner.  - Customer education of insurance requirements and building processes. Manage the balance between customer expectation, insurance policy response and legal precedent. - Familiar with privacy requirements, conflicts of interest and project risks.

Part of an insurer audit team set-up to carry out joint inspections and reviews of Arrow and the Earthquake Commission of New Zealand’s (EQC) damage assessments. Negotiating with EQC in areas of unresolved claim ownership resulting in settlement of stalled claims.

Restaurant owner in the remote resort town of Hanmer Springs. Undertook all marketing, staff management and training, negotiation of supply contracts, event management, as well as internal security, rosters, stock control, ordering, cost control and other administration tasks. Also spent a good proportion of time working front-of-house.Due to the remote location of the restaurant, a great deal of organization and planning was required. Supplies needed to be ordered well ahead of time. Predicting requirements was challenging due to the seasonal nature of the locality. Combined with this was the high turnover of mainly overseas staff that is expected in a seasonal resort town.

Responsible for sales and marketing, building and project management plus all aspects of business management. Also involved health & safety compliance, quality management and maintaining customer relationships. Liaised with architects, designers and other building professionals. Key Achievements• Successfully fit out a 120-seat restaurant for Robbies Bar and Bistro. This resulted in becoming the preferred contractor for Robbies, managing and building 20 more of their restaurants.• Built and managed more than 60 residential homes as well as a significant number of housing alterations.• Established strong relationships with clients yielding a significant flow of repeat business and a reputation for quality.• Developed a high performing team, contributing to consistent, excellent customer feedback on workmanship, timeliness and quality. • Prestigious New Zealand Institute of Architects award for build quality.
