Awarded Office of Naval Research Science Advisor of the Year in September 2019Skills, Duties and Responsibilities: -Serve as the Science Advisor on the Staff of Commander MARFORCOMScience Advisor to MARFORCOM reports directly to the 3-Star General, Commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command, (COMMARFORCOM), Norfolk, VA. The MARFORCOM Science Advisor serves as the Command Technology Officer and senior representative of the Commander MARFORCOM on interactions with Science and Technology (S&T) organizations in government, academia, and industry. This includes problem definition and solution recommendation for command Science, Technology, and Experimentation (ST&E) issues, consultation with MARFORCOM subordinate commands on prioritized command ST&E matters, presentation of technical briefs, and arranging for briefs that benefit the ST&E knowledge base of the command staff. Review and evaluate ST&E products and requirements documents and make recommendations to the MARFORCOM staff on any actions that should be taken.Specific examples of ways I have fulfilled this role include:- FY20-21 FMFLANT/MARFORCOM Science, Technology, and Experimentation Priorities Letter – At the direction of COMMARFORCOM Led effort to develop the FY20-21 FMFLANT/MARFORCOM ST&E Priorities Letter signed by the Commander. This letter is then used to inform the NR&DE, Industry, and Academia of the priorities of the Command. FMFLANT/MARFORCOM ST&E Priorities Brief has been provided to audiences of up to 250 participants at NSWC Dahlgren, NIWC LANT, NAWC PAX River, MARCORSYSCOM, Naval Post Graduate School, NSWC Carderock Combatant Craft Division.

-Office of Naval Research Offboard Refueling and Data Transfer System Future Naval Capabilities/Technology Candidate Project Lead- Position responsibilities included leading the overall effort for Dr. Bob Brizzolara (ONR Code 33) assisting in preparation of the BAA and TTA, assembling an evaluation team of six members with the appropriate areas of expertise to evaluate White Papers and Full Proposals, managing funding for the program.- Assembled and led Evaluation Team - Engineering and Program Management - After award provided engineering and program guidance to the awardee Navatek, on deliverables including Kick off Presentation, Progress Reports, Risk Assessments, Systems Requirements Review, and weekly teleconferences. - Presenting a clear message - Presented yearly updates (2) on the program at the Office of Naval Research Unmanned Maritime Science and Technology (UMST) Program Review to an audience of ~500 attendees.-Sea Mob unmanned surface vessel Lead Mechanical Engineer/On-Site Project LeadOn Site Rep at CDI providing government direction and oversight. Project manager at V-47 to keep the program moving forward. Lead Mechanical Engineer on the program making design decisions for every mechanical system on board. Designed several systems from scratch including payload deployment system and forward payload system-Lead Mechanical Engineer 63 meter Egyptian Navy Fast Missile Craft (September 2009-)Position requires working with VT Halter Shipyard, SUPShip, PMS 325, and the Egyptian Navy to ensure a quality product is delivered. Duties include reviewing drawings and calculations, managing contractor team, enforcing contract requirements, witnessing shipboard tests, attending Factory Acceptance Tests on major components, performing ship checks, participating in sea trial events, serving as a liaison between the Egyptian Government and the Shipbuilder, extensive travel to multiple manufacturing facilities and to Gulf coast Shipyards.
