In between my time digging through archived Senate committee hearings and trying to fully understand implications of climate change on the Arab Spring; I am managing licenses, pulling selects and wrangling interns.It is always great to work on an issue that you care deeply about, so--although this is a big job full of tall orders on an ambitious deadline--I love working with this award-winning documentary production company.

While at Advertising Age I took on a number of responsibilities on all sides of production. I assisted in developing ideas for two sponsored series we produced--one scripted, one documentary. I also shot, lit and ran sound for numerous interviews with CMO's, CCO's and CEO's of major brands and advertising agencies in studio and in the field. I edited editorial content for quick turnaround and edited alone and in a team longer form sponsored series. I secured rental equipment and travel accommodations on trips to San Francisco, Minneapolis, Baltimore and two trips to Los Angeles. Notably, I edited multiple videos for "The Real Mad Men Diaries," which one a 2015 Neal Award for Best Use of Video.

I assisted the director and the director of photography to run errands, set up equipment and break down equipment for two short videos the History Channel produced for the Mount Vernon Museum. We shot b-roll at Mount Vernon and interviewed Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy and Journalist Cokie Roberts.

Valley Crop Mob (VCM) is a community organization that takes groups of volunteers to local farms in the Rockingham County area and beyond. The creation of the VCM was inspired by the crop mobs that began in North Carolina. VCM has helped over fifteen local farms and assisted with countless "man-hours" to support the local food movement in the Harrisonburg area.I help found the organization in 2011 in conjunction with the James Madison University E.A.R.T.H. Club and the Friendly City Food Co-op. I went on to create an identity for the organization by setting up a website, using social media, email marketing, design, photography and video.

I assisted the 1st assistant camera and the director of photography on this independent feature film shot in Death Valley, CA. My duties consisted of keeping camera logs, slating before filming, transferring dailies, marking actors and assisting the 1st AC with his duties. It was a very unique experience that exposed many challenges. Shooting in the desert made for difficult filming environments and communication was difficult due to lack of cellphone service. Shooting was done in a period of only fifteen days.

Technology and Design is diverse office of creative talent that includes writers, photographers, videographers, graphic designers and web developers. I lead a team of videographers who produced short videos for offices within the James Madison University's student unions. We collaborated with the other creatives in the office and interacted with clients directly to create visually-appealing and informative videos.

This was a grant project to update and redesign the Virginia Department of Health's Women, Infants, and Children program's website. I worked on production and post-production and refined my skills in lighting, location sound and editing.
