In this role I predominantly performed verification activities compliant to CENELEC 50128 and 50129 standards for several projects.• Advanced Train Management System (ATMS) Verification Team Lead. Some ATMS Train Control System (TCS) functions were developed to Safety Integrity Level 2 (SIL2).• Verified the Non-Vital Panel (NVP) software developed for Rawang Ipoh Dual Tracking (RIDT), Malaysia.• Developed the fundamental database concepts for RIDT together with defining additional software requirements to support these concepts.• Defined and verified NVP enhancements to test the Microlok based SIL4 ATMS Trackside Interface Unit (TIU). NVP is now used by customers in India and Malaysia as well as being used extensively by Ansaldo for interlocking testing.• Assisted with auditing Kuala Lumpur Monorail operations focusing on TCS findings and recommendations for improvement.• Developed the ATMS TCS configuration to support virtualised servers.

As a senior systems engineer I worked on several projects and frequently had roles encompassing requirement management, system design and/or verification. My achievements include:• System concepts and design for ATMS.• Documented Rio Tinto’s rail operations and subsequently developed the Concept of Operations for their driverless Automatic Train Operation (ATO) system.• Requirement management and system design for ATO. A trial system successfully drove a 2.5 km long iron ore train.• Performed an audit of Rio Tinto’s ATP performance and made recommendations to improve system performance and reliability.• Requirement management, detailed design, implementation and testing on enhancements to the Phoenix TCS system to support multiple redundant servers.• Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of Local Control and Maintenance Panels used prior to NVP for RIDT Malaysia project.• Requirement management and verification activities including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of S2 protocol for Genisys II.• Requirement management, system design, implementation and verification of a radio based signalling system for Kuala Lumpur Monorail.

My major achievement in Queensland Rail (QR) was the design, implementation and testing of the Universal Train Control (UTC) system. I was solely responsible for replicating the signalling logic to enable the software to be non-provoking. The UTC system won a State Government Award of Excellence.Other achievements within QR include:• Signalling design work including Automatic Train Protection (ATP) modifications, level crossing installations and the addition or removal of station sidings.• Investigating and resolving a design flaw in the Automatic Warning System (AWS) used on the Brisbane suburban train network by developing a dynamic magnetic flux meter.• Significantly assisted in the changeover and testing of the communication bearer from open wire line to fibre optic cable for the North Coast line Centralised Traffic Control (CTC) telemetry system.• Significantly assisted in the changeover and testing of the Rockhampton West CTC system from HP1000 to DEC PDP 11/44 mini computers.• Designed and checked safety critical signalling circuits.• Supervised and commissioned work performed on safety critical signal interlocking.
