Works as Senior Decontamination Engineer at NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership/Specialist Estates Services. John manages the team where the role is defined to provide technical advice, validation services and promote and develop guidance.The work entails providing a service to Welsh Government and NHS organisations to ensure systems are in place to promote best practise within decontamination of medical devices and compliance with the appropriate regulatory framework.John works closely with multi-disciplinary healthcare professionals within Wales to promote standards for the decontamination of medical devices. The work entails liasing with similarly qualified professionals across the UK.Where commitments allow, John attends all Health Board decontamination committee meetings at periodic intervals, acting as a technical advisor on behalf of NHS Wales SSP/SES.John has participated as NWSSP/SES lead, co-ordinating and formulating surveys/audits and reports on the 2016/17/18/19 Welsh government Survey's of decontamination practises. This role involves being the technical editor of the exercise closure reports (compiled with input from multi-disciplinary team members).John was a Member of the Central Sterilizing Committee from 2011 to 2022, finishing his term as treasurer in 2022.John has been the Welsh representative on the IHEEM Professional Development Committee. He also serves as a member of the Authorising Engineer (Decontamination) Registration Board. He is currently the Chairman - IHEEM (Welsh branch).He is a part time educator at Eastwood Park Training Centre, delivering a number of Decontamination training courses per year
