Our company makes equipment for network monitoring, diagnostics and tributary switching.Over the years I've designed and written much C and VHDL code for CPU and FPGA devices to serve data path flows, user interfaces, and board support. I've become very familiar with various common network protocols, OTN, SDH/PDH clocking, and flow control issues.Among the things I've designed: - Various FPGA system architectures for switching and monitoring - Various user interfaces for our network systems - Various software drivers for DSL,Ethernet, etc. - A proprietary compression/decompression scheme.

This company provides quality-controlled software solutions for medical and other embedded systems. While there I...- Designed and implemented a Windows-based GUI with Visual C++ for a blood analyzer.- Designed and implemented software for a Motorola microcontroller for surgical equipment.- Implemented a token-ring network for a fire alarm system.- Optimized the dynamic memory allocation code of a cell phone's operating system by re-writing it in machine language.

This company made high-bandwidth controllers for high-power motors.Precise speed and position control of motors requires a high-bandwidth feedback loop. A motor's power supply was precision-controlled using high-speed PWM switching. The feedback filtering and PWM generation was done with a TI DSP.At this company I re-structured the DSP's Assembly language OS to reduce the delay between the motor's position feedback and the resulting PWM duty cycle adjustment. By reducing the delay I improved the controller's bandwidth, resulting in more responsive motors.

This Naval Base had multiple research facilities. I worked at two branches (Microwave and ASW). I had a Secret clearance.Microwave Branch - Here I assisted in the design and test of airplane communication antennae.Anti-Submarine Warfare Branch - Here I assisted in research on passive and active undersea acoustic signal processing techniques for enemy submarine detection and position assessment.
