Currently working as a political writer/researcher in Des Moines, IA. Recently, I've worked on a number of projects for Washington,DC-based Campaign for Accountability (CfA), looking into the influence of certain special interest groups.

For nearly eight years I worked on the research team for Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) one of the most respected nonpartisan ethics watchdog groups in Washington, DC. CREW is doing great work to tackle corruption in Congress, the White House and the executive branch.I contributed to a wide array of research work products while at CREW, ranging from massive team-wide reports and lengthy individual investigations to short blog posts and quick-turnaround support for the legal team.While our primary tools were campaign finance data, lobbying records and public financial disclosures, I also became closely familiar with court documents, regulatory filings (particularly SEC), state and federal legislation databases and stock market data. My work also touched on complex topics outside the typical realm of government ethics, such as pharmaceutical pricing, high speed automated trading and market manipulation.

Participated in all aspects of the corporate due diligence process including conducting background checks, compiling research and writing detailed reports in order to mitigate reputational risk by ensuring the firm did not enter into business deals with entities involved in fraud, terrorism, money-laundering or white collar crime.Searched international, federal, state and municipal courts and databases for information on the companies and individuals under review. Conducted research in Spanish and translated relevant documents from Spanish to English.
