Developed Commission regulatory policies, procedures, and licensing guides for radioactive material use. Responded to numerous events involving radioactive materials, responsible for coordinating inspection activities. Coordinated a highly successful national Nuclear Pharmacy Workshop which attracted major manufacturers, nuclear pharmacy’s, State of Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety, various State Boards of Pharmacy, FDA, and the Chairman of the American Pharmacy Association.Management oversight of a shipment of over 50,000 curies of cobalt-60 to a waste broker from a sealed source manufacturer which required extensive process knowledge and communication skills; involving meetings with local politicians and the public.Led an Augmented Inspection Team to evaluate the root causes of manual brachytherapy medical events involving five patients, three of which sustained injuries as a result of the medical events. Also, led the public exit meeting presenting the findings of the Augmented Inspection, attended by members of the public and covered by three newspapers and affiliates of ABC, CBS, and NBC television. -
