Documented peak prediction (signal) performance for relevant ISOs. Continuously conducted case studies of past grid peak events to catalog historical analogs of weather setups conducive for peak events, to assist with predicting similar future events. Interpreted meteorological data and regularly communicated impacts of this data on potential peak events to internal/external stakeholders. Liaised with software engineers and developers to develop in-house forecasting tools/software. Engaged with the Sales Team to procure new potential forecasting contracts with select customer bases spanning numerous ISOs, leveraging experience/knowledge base of weather and electrical grid peaks. Performed weather analyses for the day ahead to 1 month forecast horizon to anticipate possible grid peak events. Submitted day ahead weather forecasts for ISO regions of interest, should a peak event be expected the following day. On expected grid peak days, monitored load forecasts, satellite/radar imagery, along with observations from multitudes of weather stations to ascertain the most likely peak hour (taking into account embedded solar generation, load weightings/population density). Mr. Milton joined the Met-Ocean Services group at Wood (then known as AMEC) in October 2006, and provided both marine and terrestrial forecasting and consulting services to various sectors all across Canada. He acquired a wealth of experience forecasting severe weather such as thunderstorms, tornadoes and winter storms, as well as storms at sea.
