As a CFO and Public Accountant operating globally, I have developed an extensive tool box which I use to successfully formulate and execute strategies across different businesses and cultures. It all starts with a strong vision and plan, being able to assess the market and its possibilities is key. I have taken on responsibility for strategy in several businesses which, as well as identifying new markets and opportunities, also led to acquisitions. These have ranged in size and included the $28bn acquisition of Alltel and multi-billion dollar spectrum auction purchases. I have led the funding and successful integration of many of these acquisitions. Most of my experience is within publicly listed businesses or businesses where debt is traded. I have held external reporting roles in North America and Europe and have been responsible for investor and financial community relations. I enjoy being able to communicate strategies and results to external stakeholders and I have regularly attended and presented at Verizon, Vodafone and Digicel Boards and Audit Committees. As a hands-on CFO, a detailed understanding of markets and operations is critical. I have developed a reputation for being able to translate strategies into business plans and actionable operational plans. Many of my roles have included operational responsibilities including supply chain management and procurement, deal, contract management and pricing as well as promotional and channel responsibility. I excel in developing effective commercial and business processes to capitalize on opportunities for growth and waste elimination. I was part of the core leadership team that completed the formation of Verizon Wireless from its legacy businesses and transformed it to become the fastest growing operator in the U.S. and be recognized as the leading mobile telecommunications business globally. I also led a major business transformation program for Verizon Business which drove annualized benefits in excess of $2bn and faster and smarter commercial decision making as well as streamlined core processes. Acquiring and developing the right talent to inspire businesses to make the right commercial decisions is fundamental. I have earned a reputation for recruiting strong external talent and developing in-house personnel to become effective finance and business leaders. Exposing team members to new challenges and encouraging them to take risks within a constructive and supportive environment creates a strong motivated team.
