I entered the automotive industry at AMC (1982), as a journeyman (in sheet metal) Metal Model Maker to work in the body Lab. Then in 1986, while part of Engineering Services Group, I was tasked with the design and build lead of low volume assembly tooling for prototype body assembly. In 1989, the proto tool design changed from manual drafting to using V3-4 Catia until 1995. That year, I moved into BIW dimensional control group for platform launches, verification and certification of plant assembly tooling. Finally in 1997, I was assigned to an engineering project, as a CAD Design/Release Engineer (responsible for design and release) in BIW closure components on Dakota/Durango (doors). Additionally, I have also engineered and designed BIW components for Wrangler (fenders, misc. door and roof), Durango II (doors, NVH items), Grand Cherokee/Durango III (hood and fenders), Dart (fender misc.), RAM and RAM Sport (hoods). I have also worked on advanced concepts for six or seven other (un-named) programs.
