At Ametek I conceived, spec’ed, architected and implemented Broadband FOCUS, a channel bank which networks over layers 2/3 as opposed to the more dated T1. I spec’ed the hardware. selected the components, the OS, tools, etc., and then wrote a large portion of the firmware. My efforts included the bootstrap, test code, human interfaces, discovery code, call setup/teardown, bandwidth allocation, SNMP agent port, VLAN implementation for QOS, RADIUS port, etc., etc. Support functions I worked on included security features, like RADIUS, and HTTPS. I used the Netburner toolset which includes an Eclipse IDE, gcc, gdb, and Cygwin libraries. The processor was the Freescale Coldfire. I also worked on other projects, including a card to send Ethernet over T1.

GateD is a freeware package that supports a number of IP, layer 3, routing protocols including BGP, OSPF and ISIS. My work involved the modification of ISIS to run under VxWorks and NetBSD.

I designed the telephony portion of this dialer using Mitel components. This included all the hardware (analog line circuits, analog trunk, T1 trunk, crosspoint, conference circuit, DTMF sender, etc.). I also designed all production testers for the debug of cards and wrote some of the embedded dialer software. All my work was thoroughly documented. I wrote the software integration of this outbound dialer to Aspect's Contact Center ACD. I also wrote an outbound dialer client/server application using Natural Microsystems cards running under Sun Solaris.

I designed the common control for the SX200D, a 200 digital, TDM line PBX. This included the processor, DRAM, and a DSP for DTMF tone generation and conferencing. I developed a means to message between processors using DMA and HDLC USARTS, greatly reducing inter-processor messaging latency and code download time.

At GTE I was credited with developing a universal multi-frequency ringing generator and a loop powered ring code detector for party lines.

CP Tel was upgrading from a circuit switched 33 milliamp current loop data transmission network, to a fully digital, nationally synchronized data network. I worked on the clock recovery system, which was based on an Austron LORAN C, RF clock receiver.
