Over 15 years experience with the National Institutes of Health Vaccine Research Center providing laboratory expertise in Clinical Trial sample processing of blood samples to obtain PBMCs, serum and plasma. Analysis of samples for immunogenicity, both humoral and cell-mediated, by performing Antibody Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assays (ELISA), ELISpot, Virus Neutralization, and 10 Color Intracellular Cytokine Staining Assays using the LSR II Flow Cytometer and Flo-Jo analysis. Also experienced in performing ELISA and Neutralization methods using Biomek Intergrated Automation systems. Trained on GCLP and GMP guidlines and participated in the accreditation of current Vaccine Immunolgy Program laboratory in gaithersburg. Experienced in writing Standard Operating Procedures for laboratory assays and use of Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel. Also trained in Labware LIMS (Laboratory Information Management) for use in storing sample information and data results.

Performed animal research studies to test vaccine efficacy including: immunizing and obtaining blood samples from rodents and rabbits. Worked with pathogenic bacteria as part of challenge experiments on new born rodents to test if immunogenicity could cross the placenta to provide protection. Evaluated the immune response by performing ELISA, Bactericidal Assays, and Opsonophagocytosis Assays for preclinical vaccine studies.

Performed quality control testing of raw materials and finished drug products within the Analytical Sciences Department. Maintained test results documentation according to Good Manufacturing Processes. Testing conducted included: bacterial endotoxin, total aerobic bacterial count, total mold and yeast count, microbial enrichment, container closure integrity, preservative effectiveness, and package sterility. Also performed environmental monitoring of sterile manufacturing areas.

Supervised the operations of the Diagnostic Laboratory within the Department of Laboratory Animal Resources which included the rodent health and environmental monitoring program. Performed microbiology, hematology, blood chemistry, ELISA screening, and parasitology tests on animal specimens. performed total aerobic microbial counts, coliform bacteria, and pseudomonas testing on environmental samples. Performed necropsies, including gross pathology, on laboratory animals. Maintained the health and welfare of laboratory animals to be used for research purposes. Obtained blood samples from various species of laboratory animals, including non-human primates of which TB testing and training was performed. Assisted in veterinary care and necropsy of laboratory animals and maintained the animal health records.

Participated in research testing methods on laboratory animals to test new anti-inflammatory drugs for use in Rheumatoid Arthritis. Performed oral dosing of experimental drugs and obtained blood samples by cardiac puncture. Performed necropsies, including gross pathology, on laboratory animals.
