Dr. John Ravizza is a native of San Jose, California. He is a graduate of Bellarmine College Preparatory and Santa Clara University. He received his teacher certification in Secondary Education from the University of San Diego and a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Boston College. In 2010, he received a Doctorate in Leadership for the Advancement of Learning and Service from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.Dr. Ravizza has experience teaching at the elementary, middle and high school levels. In 2001, he joined the Teacher Education faculty at St. Norbert College, including one year as the Interim Director of the Center for Adaptive Education and Assistive Technology. In 2006, he began as Associate Principal at Notre Dame Academy-- a Catholic high school in Green Bay, Wisconsin. In 2008, he became Principal of Notre Dame Academy. In March 2017, he was hired as the Superintendent of St. Francis Xavier Catholic School System in Appleton, Wisconsin. St. Francis Xavier Catholic School System is a co-educational, fully accredited Catholic school community comprised of nearly 1,500 students serving grades PreK through 12, including St. Francis Xavier High School, St. Francis Xavier Middle School, and St. Francis Xavier Elementary School at two locations. With new, state-of-the-art facilities, small class sizes and a curriculum consistent with current trends, the Xavier System offers the highest quality faith-based education. As Superintendent, Dr. Ravizza oversees the System's educational programs, curriculum development and assessment, and faculty and staff professional development.John's wife, Dr. Bridget Burke Ravizza, is a Professor of Theology & Religious Studies at St. Norbert College.
