Project Quality Engineer
CurrentIn my current role as Project Engineer within the Quality Assurance division I play a key role in the development and launch of a new vehicle working with multi disciplined group of stakeholders within the Toyota organisation (Design Engineers, Process Engineers, Purchasing, Project Management) and work with suppliers in developing their part and process quality. My responsible area is Interior cabin.-Design study stage As a QA Project Engineer I support the validation of the vehicle design. I worked with a multi disciplined global Engineering team in studying the vehicle and part structure using CATIA, technical drawings, tolerance stack up confirmation. By liaising with Design and Process Engineers as well as Suppliers, I support design for maufacturability, solving problems before tooling kick off (avoiding costly tooling changes later) and assure the best cost, quality, reliability, safety, time-to-market, and customer satisfaction.-Tooling kick off & prototype confirmationI approve all supplier QC documents (parts inspection standards, checking fixture design, process quality charts). Visits are made to each supplier to view part and process development and audit supplier quality controls (poke-yoke, operator instructions, checking fixtures).The 1st prototype vehicles are built in Japan, I spent 1 month in Japan confirming the fitting and finish of all parts under my responsibility to find supplier Quality and Design concerns and taking action to find a countermeasure for each concern.-Trials and launch in manufacturing plantAfter the vehicle as come to plant I confirm that all countermeasures from prototype stage are implemented and confirm any final Quality concerns raised from the final off process condition. I approve all the regulatory quality documents for manufacturing (both in-house and at supplier) within my responsible area are correct and I audit (e.g airbag labels, safety critical tightening torques).
