Long term extended care hospital for patients needing extra time to recover from acute, intensive, life changing hospitalizations before being released to physical rehabilitation or to home, when possible.Most patients have serious illnesses, wounds, tracheostomies and alot of the time, are on mechanical ventilators, that exclude them from life activities. The complication of their illness excludes them from the general hospital stay patient and places them in a hospital recovery system that specializes in their affliction. Basically it's an ICU/CCU step-down unit.Some of them are there for long term IV antibiotic therapy for systemic infections, while others may be there for serious wound care. Total Parenteral Feeding is available to those who have lost the ability to eat or swallow solid foods or at risk for a failure to thrive diagnosises.Paraplegic and quadraplegic patients also pass through for physical therapy and range of motion exercises. Often these specialty patients have been on mechanical ventilators to breathe for them for a period of time and need the specialized assistance of a trained Respiratory Therapy team to help "wean" them off of their dependency of having mechanical ventilators breathe for them so that they can return to breathing for themselves without assistance. This could mean living with a tracheostomy for a short period time while the Respiratory Therapy Staff continue to downsize the size of the "trach", according to a prescheduled protocol, according to how the patient tolerates the new demand placed on his body, diaphram, lungs and his psyche. Some will retain a tracheostomy indefinitely, while many return to breathing without any kind of assistance.Patients with renal insufficiency or end stage renal disease also reside here with onsite dialysis, usually taking place in the comfort of the patients own room. When stabilized, they usually return home and set up a regular regimen with a outpatient dialysis center of their choice.

Acute and chronic wound care to include: diabetic ulcers, decubitus ulcers, stasis ulcers and cellulitis. Aggressive IV antibiotic therapy. Diabetic blood sugar control teaching and diet teaching.Blood infusions. General Medical/Surgical floor.

Contracted to area hospital Behavioral Health Unit. Adult and Geriatric secured Psychiatric units.
