John Rebuth understands all of this, innately. He is honest, he is thorough, and is a genuinely kind man. He is always willing to make time for each and every individual working for him. He is fearless, why? Because anyone who is willing to manage hundreds of employees knows that they will inevitably need to deal with some conflict, at one point or another. I’m not even speaking about quarterly reviews, hirings and firings, restructuring of certain teams, salary increases and bonuses. Not to mention his OWN incredibly heavy workload! I was his secretary for only a few years when he was a Global COO at Deutsche Bank, and it really was almost fascinating to watch how well he was able to handle PEOPLE. And he was respected and very much liked by his many, many direct reports. In addition, he is quite frankly the most dedicated employee I’ve witnessed. He CARES about the work he is doing. He CARES about the company where he works. Since then, he has become one of the most knowledgeable executives in the Financial World. He has a true and COMPLETE understanding of Wall Street. From Compliance needs, to Operations, Equity Derivatives and the role of a Middle office team, Prime Brokerage, Hedge Funds, Stock Loan, Front Office sales and trading....I’ll stop there. But his present knowledge is so keen that I couldn’t possibly explain it even if I wanted to do so. He is now a Highly regarded CFO. My father once told me, “Kid, to make a living in this life, you’ve either got to know how to Sign or Sell.” I have seen that this is true, but because I had the opportunity to watch John Rebuth in action, I’m adding on to my father’s words: “...or know how to Manage PEOPLE."
