Responsible for Electrical and Mechanical Engineering of new professional floor care equipment for the North American market. Equipment designs vary in complexity from small corded vacuums to large battery ride-on equipment. Products are designed with large amounts of custom designed parts including rotationally molded plastic, injection molded plastic, blow molded plastic, steel and aluminum castings, sheet metal, PCB's, wire harnesses, HMI's, sensor packages, custom motors and other electromechanical components. Responsible for hiring, firing, and performance evaluation of a 55 person work crew, consisting of 24 contract temp workers and 31 full-time employees. Monitored, identified, investigated, and resolved quality problems with the electrical and mechanical components of the PV modules. Worked with equipment technicians to troubleshoot and fix broken equipment. Coordinated equipment and personnel efforts to run engineering experiments. Organized PM execution to minimize production line downtime. Member of ERT.Achievements:• Created concept and requirements for real-time production line monitoring software that provided basic PV module statistics and time stamps of steps completed. Worked with IT to create the software and continually add additional improvements.• Implemented 5S of hand tools used on PM’s, using a foam shadow board system that reduced time spent searching for tools.• Performed a Kaizen that resulted in a Standard Work document for cleaning and inspecting modules at the end of the production line, which decreased cycle time by 25%.• Took over lowest producing shift and made improvements that resulted in the crew being the highest producing shift over the past 7 months.• Identified and implemented a safe, but stronger solvent to replace IPA in cleaning equipment, which reduced PM time and improved equipment performance by removing tough, cured residues.
