I am responsible for developing and implementing new process technologies and products for SunCoke, aiming to facilitate the company's growth and expansion into markets beyond our traditional focus on supplying metallurgical coke.Note "Technology" refers to process technology and not IT!

For Arkema's North American Oxygenates and Derivatives Manufacturing business, I lead the R&D team, have technical oversight of the plant based process engineers, and manage the process technology portfolio.

My primary role is startup manager and process technology coordinator for Arkema's new Kepstan facility being constructed in Mobile, AL. In addition to providing leadership for the project's process engineering needs, I also supervise an automation engineer, control the project startup budget and manage the commissioning and startup planning.My secondary role is to provide process technology support to projects in Arkema's hydrogen peroxide manufacturing operations and new product development from R&D.In my "extracurricular time" I enjoy working on Arkema's recruiting team to find great engineering talent and I search for ways to improve process technology and R&D collaboration both internally and externally.

As the energy focal point for Shell's Deer Park Refinery and Petrochemical complex, responsible for site wide energy initiatives and metrics analysis and reporting. Supervisor for technology data analysts who provide assurance for both the refinery hydrocarbon inventories and utilities balances.HIGHLIGHTS:• Focal point for carbon & energy management process at Shell’s largest Americas Refinery & Petrochemical Complex; energy metrics assurance & reporting, energy gaps resolution, and developing the site energy plan for business planning.• Supervisor for Hydrocarbon and Utilities analysts. Oversaw significant staff changes due to retirements and role reconciliation. Developed maturity plan and improved processes and tools used by analysts (Shell Recognition Award)• Team lead for investigation into major incident at effluent treater. Findings changed mindset of buying and processing crudes, operation communications, and developed solution that allowed for processing > $100,000 per day of an opportunity crude. • Led investigation into major steam balance change impacting refiner/chemicals financial transfers of ~$200k/month and the resulting stakeholder management of findings.• Team Lead of 15 staff for social investment campaign resulting in $1.5M in total giving in 2016. (Shell Recognition Award)• Completed leadership training in site leadership development program (Flagship Leadership Development) and completed Phases 1-3 in Shell’s Leader of Teams training.

Process Engineer on a four person multi-discipline enhanced problem solving team for lower olefins at Shell's Deer Park facility. Tasked with conducting causal investigations to understand and solve the highest impact and complex operational threats in the lower olefins unit area. Also acted as causal investigation subject matter experts and focal points for the site.HIGHLIGHTS• Process engineering expert on a four person multi-discipline team tasked with solving high impact and complex threats faced by a $400M/year revenue generating steam cracking unit at Shell Deer Park. • Led my team’s three largest casual investigations and led the respective solution mitigation teams. The combined impact prevented over $40million dollars of unplanned production loss and removed a significant turnaround driver. Result from one investigation was nominated for Shell’s highest global manufacturing award and I was awarded a Shell Recognition Award.• Provided process engineering and causal support on two other investigations that prevented $4million in margin loss and identified another $2million in production opportunity.• Relief operator during 2015 union strike at Deer Park and backfilled for operation support engineers.

As a process evaluations engineer I provided technical and economic evaluations of new technologies of interest to Shell, led various early stage technology projects, and pioneered open innovation initiatives.HIGHLIGHTS:• Completed nine techno-economic evaluations utilizing profited manufacturing cost analysis and VIR comparisons. Also delivered competitor scope and capital estimations for multi-billion dollar Appalachian cracker project.• Process Evaluations lead integrator for work in naphtha reforming, higher olefins and derivatives, and hydrogen. Led and managed work from Chief Scientists, business representatives, and various technical subject matter experts.• Pioneered and led two open innovation projects for unconventional chemicals projects.• Supervised two interns and mentored a new hire in the department.• Initiated two new technology projects in the areas of gas to liquids and aromatics production. Gas to liquids project has progressed to lab testing under a non disclosure agreement.

Worked as a catalysis research engineer in Shell's wholly owned subsidiary CRI/Criterion Inc. Job included various research projects related to catalysis with a focus on hydrocarbon upgrading.• Led the successful startup of a one-of-a-kind robotic enhanced experimentation catalyst prep unit.• Led program to study catalyst placement for distillate and cat-feed hydrotreating.• Designed, built, and implemented a mechanized high-throughput adjusted particle sizer that greatly reduced work time and strain on technicians. • Contributed to development of a global database and analytical program for catalyst research.• Tech service coordinator for pilot planting testing leading to hundreds of thousands of pounds of catalyst sales.• Designed experiments for catalyst synthesis and testing on new enhanced experimentation rigs. • Ran lab and research program to study a novel fluid catalytic cracking catalyst.• Filed three patent disclosures and directed activities of over ten technicians.
