With Tectonics, I successfully rebuilt the engineering department, re-staffing and consolidating at the new corporate headquarters in Auburn Hills. I personally re-developed standards and practices to adopt solidworks as an engineering platform companywide, and designed a workflow utilizing SolidWorks PDM as a conduit for the implementation of “manufacturing 4.0” practices. I re-imagined and launched new procedures, policies, and operational workflows that streamlined the engineering process, and provided automated engineering data extraction for use within SAP and other custom software. This data was utilized for materials handling, purchasing, and inventory control automations, as well as, part serialization, and production ready CAD data. Utilizing both Agile and Lean methodologies, I guided cross functional teams, creating numerous engineering design automations, Robotic Process Automations, and custom software applications supporting new capital investments in advanced manufacturing processes and additive manufacturing. I championed processes of change management, 5S, Lean methodologies, and continuous improvement in all facilities. I personally authored new engineering standards, SOP, and updated fabrication procedures, as well as facilitating the development of business cases for procurement of new tools, technology, and acquisitions.

I retained close involvement with all projects from budgetary quotes to delivery schedules and installation of systems around the globe. This includes COGS and labor breakdown, engineering requirements, and production, installation, and purchasing schedules. I personally monitored and organized R&D tasks and order of operations, oversight of R&D project timetables, budgets, and procurement. In addition to operational related tasks, I was charged with project management of on going company-wide endeavors, including leading an internal team tasked with complete integration of a new ERP system as well as logic based product configurators for all product lines. Worked with engineers and scientists to create a schedule of continuous improvement over our leading product lines.

Designing SPM (scanning probing microscope), STM (scanning tunneling microscope) and AFM (atomic force microscope) systems to produce images in a nanometer scale, with atomic resolution. Operating in environments from UHV (ultra high vacuum) to air, in high Tesla magnetic fields, and at temperatures from milli-Kelvin to >1,500 K. RHK's equipment and microscopes are in the labs of world class universities around the globe. Leading a small team of engineers, alongside RHK staff scientists, we worked closely with both sales and marketing to develop groundbreaking instrumentation for the global surface science industry. Personally coordinated efforts to design R&D test equipment, and by using sound DFM and DFA methodology, engineer and push these concepts through production in a cost effective and resource efficient manner. Major accomplishments include design & development of RHK’s “Quadra Probe” SPM, the MIT “deep cryo” concept system, and RHK’s award winning & industry advancing “Pan Scan Freedom” microscope. Personally developed & implemented RHK engineering standards, managed solidworks installations, and administered the SolidWorks ePDM vault.
