Development Services Department - Planning Division

Under limited supervision, administer the City’s Zoning and Land Development Regulations, Comprehensive Plan, and related land development regulations; assume responsibility for the development review process and the analysis of development petitions and plans for some of the City’s larger and more involved projects; oversee the development and quality of staff reports, recommendations and presentations to advisory committees, the public, the Zoning Board of Appeals, the City Commission, and neighborhood groups; provide guidance during the development and revision of the comprehensive plan, neighborhood, site and master plans and design guidelines; respond to planning-related inquiries from the general public and other agencies and organizations; review and make recommendations for building permit applications and occupational licenses; perform fieldwork and research for both current planning and comprehensive planning; and supervise planning and technical staff.

Developed the Lake Eola Heights Neighborhood Horizons Plan for city-wide distribution and consideration during implementation of the Growth Management Plan and to help appropriate city funding; Census and historical research, public input sessions, quality of life assessment and production of the report and graphics; researched and wrote staff reports for Municipal Planning Board cases that addressed various planning issues including zoning and the implementation of the Growth Management Plan, including public service concurrence, issues dealing with school capacity and staff recommendation of the proposal; prepared presentation and graphic material for public meetings and presentations including posters and handouts.

Assisted the Project Director with the development of comprehensive/master plans including production, presentation and distribution to the public; participated in community focus group meetings to gather input from local residents and to obtain their suggestions for possible solutions to many of the concerns; completed field work by taking pictures, land use surveys and other observation remarks; researched and analyzed statistical data using census information and data obtained from other sources.
