I have spent the last 22 years working heavily with data and software systems. I began my career as a software developer and worked primarily on data layer coding and data exchanges/interfaces between systems. I quickly moved into more data-centric roles and have made a long-lasting career in working with data. I have worked on very complex software systems, built BI solutions from the ground up, built dozens of multi-dimensional SSAS cubes, developed custom ETL frameworks, built numerous service broker messaging implementations, and worked building new databases or models for both OLTP and OLAP systems. I've built 100's if not 1000's of tables and certainly thousands of functions, stored procedures, views, etc and countless (really!) ETL packages using SSIS. The roles I've held for the last few years have been a bit less hands on, but not much. I've focused more on architecture, strategy, vision and team building. Most recently, I worked on and strategy and planning for migrating applications, services and data to Microsoft Azure as part of my previous employer's modernization efforts. I am a life-long studier and learner. Learning new languages and skills never gets old for me. I enjoy teaching, mentoring, and coaching those around me and I have always found myself in either formal or informal leadership positions. My strengths are data architecture and optimization, database code tuning and analysis and ETL process design and automation. I have ample experience in ETL with DTS and SSIS as well as SSAS for cube development. My experience with database development includes both OLTP and OLAP systems. I have played the role of lead architect for both types of systems and I have successfully created robust database designs that are currently in use by my workplaces past and present and their clients. My latest endeavor has given me the opportunity to begin building up my Microsoft Azure experience. On the app-dev side, the vast majority of my experience has been with .net, specifically C#. I am currently working heavily in API development w/ C# and front-end coding with React. My current venture takes me out on my own, partnering up with my wife of 22 years, to start our own consulting practice. My goal is to build new business relationships whereby I am able to offer my vast experience in software and data as an asset to my clients while I build out my practice and scale up my team.
