Responsible for delivery of all aspects of the Safety, Environmental & assurance programmes for SPMPAP DT. This covers 5 platforms, all of which are helicopters with a civil pedigree so in addition to knowledge of the military SMS I also have had to develop my knowledge of EASA/CAA/ICAO Safety Management Systems and Environmental requirements. I am responsible for a team of 8, made up of civil servants, ITS consultants and EDP SMEs. Over the last 12 months I have led a significant transformation programme, generating new baseline POEMS documents for all platforms as well as agreeing Env roadmaps for all platforms. I have lead the closure of 2 MAA CARs, whilst implementing a revised Corrective Action Plan following a rebase lining of EDP activity (to ensure we had the outputs needed). I have delivered the first platform TASA and supported ADH risk assurance activities for those platforms with an OSD prior to the planned CAR closure dates. I have ensured a smooth transition from DT led Quality assurance activity to a Hels OC led Quality division. Providing specialist support and advice as required to support the specific civilian nuances of SPMAP platforms. I have also introduced a graduate and apprentices rotation programme into the team, providing valuable additional resource as well as exciting learning opportunities for graduates and apprentices. I introduced a weekly Level 1 plan review, using experience from industry, so as I could identify current/future workloads on different areas of the team, as well as pinch points in the programme (i.e. multiple docs for review at same time) and areas in need of further work/development. This has led to a more structured organisation of work and roles and I think has provided the team with ma more focussed approach.

Responsible for delivering the totality of the Safety & Environmental EDP outputs for Typhoon. This involved managing several work strands for key elements of the business, including Hazard Management, Safety Assurance, Type Airworthiness, Safety Training and supporting process. As Lead consultant I was responsible for arranging resource to deliver each element of the programme as well as managing and supporting the technical outputs. Notable deliverables made during my time in role include:- An update to the DTs Hermes Record, the first fully TAA approved record in 5 years, which also included an new innovative TASA evidence link (suggested and implemented by myself).- A revised TASA focussed PSP format, used as the baseline for development of the new AET Process 15 PSEP template.- New Platform TASA, tailored to meet the specific requirements. I also provided consultant technical oversight for all Typhoon Environmental deliverables and for BBMF Safety deliverables, including the hazard management system and TASA.

Responsible for delivering the equipment DLOD within the F-35 Lightning II programme, certifying the air system and ensuring its continuing airworthiness. To support me in this role I had DM responsibility for 1 x L2 post, 2 x US based Software Collaborative Partner Participants and a DE&S apprentice.In addition to my core EA & LoAA holder responsibilities as Lead Software Engineer for F-35 Mission, Vehicle and Propulsion System Software I needed to have in-depth knowledge of the F-35 Software Policies, Processes and Procedures, which the aircraft is designed and built to, as well as UK DEF-STANs (including 00-970 Part 13 1.7.1, and DEF STAN-055/056) and the internationally recognised RTCA DO-178. I used these routinely to support TCB assessment for Flight Certification, continued assurance of Prime Team Supplier generated Software and Software Legs of the F-35 Technical Safety Argument (Goal Structured Node Format).Assessed several challenges that could impact the UKs continued assurance of F-35 Software; including, but not limited to 'Agile' (SAFe) based SW development processes, activation and stand-up of US Military Software Depots (part of USC Title 10 organic ‘core’ software sustainment capability), incorporation of Mil-HDBK-516C/DO-178C and Technical Refresh-3 (incorporating Multicore Processors and provision for future projects to incorporate an ‘Open Systems Standards’ architecture).Having demonstrated the ability to quickly assimilate knowledge of complex programmes I was tasked by the TAA to develop my Cyber Security/Protection awareness. Taking the initiative in this I've gathered insight from the DTech Team, attending various DE&S and 'Innovation' briefs, as well as reviewing a number of US reports from the GAO, US DoD Inspector General, MITRE. and DoD Cybersecurity Policies (DoDI 8500.01 and DoDI 8510.01).

Working within the Systems Integration (SInt) team I was responsible for the provision of platform airworthiness advice in line with an approved LoAA; delegated by the Typhoon Type Airworthiness Authority (TAA; RAF Gp Capt), the management and support of all matters appertaining to engineering instructions; fault reporting and investigation; airworthiness registers; extensions to scheduled maintenance and component lives; and the issuing of engineering concessions.Due to staff changeover, in addition to my role as DASS LoAA I also deputised as the Avionics Engineering Authority/LoAA; Systems Integration HoS (Wg Cdr/B2). This was the first time this role was undertaken by anyone other than the HoS and I was personally recommended for the task by the departing HoS due to my previous experience. The roles and responsibilities are similar to those of the DASS LoAA. However, Avionics comprises 8 of the 42 systems on Typhoon and requires a much broader knowledge for multiple systems and how they all integrate into the avionics system.
